Chris Bowman is a queer, non-binary filmmaker and artist. They believe that while art imitates life, life also imitates art. We have a responsibility to create work with integrity that reflects the world we wish to live in rather than the one we've been given.
As a director Chris enjoys working on genre pieces and has experience combining special and visual effects to create unique aesthetics and engaging worlds. Having worked in many different parts of the film industry since 2017, Chris is scrappy and resourceful as well as organized and diligent. They love leading a team of people in pursuit of an ambitious vision.
Chris received their MFA in Directing at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and a BA in Political Science from Colorado College. They were nominated for the National Board of Review Student Grants in 2023 and 2024, was a Semifinalist for the NewFest New Voices Filmmaker Grant in 2024, a semi-finalist for Sundance Collab's Cultural Impact Residency in 2025 and was recently a finalist in the Brooklyn Film Festival Exchange pitch competition. In June of 2026 Chris was the Guest Festival Director for the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival, curating all 8 of the narrative short blocks.
